Hardback with dust jackets. A matching uniform set, in green cloth bindings with the pale blue and white / cream dust jackets. Volume I, Sense and Sensibility, has a gift inscription written on the half-title page in ink (dated 1969). No other writing, names or inscriptions in the other volumes. Volumes I-V were first published in the Oxford Illustrated Edition in 1923, the third edition of this set was published in 1933 and these volumes are all reprints from 1967-1969. Volume VI, Minor Works, was first published in the Oxford Illustrated Edition in 1954 and this copy is a later reprint from 1969. Each of the volumes has some light foxing to the outer closed textblock page edges. All are firmly bound, with very good inner hinges, and nice clean pages. Volume III, Mansfield Park, has a small brown mark to the top outer closed textblock edge. Volume V, Northanger Abbey and Persuasion, has a small pale stain to the outer closed textblock foredge. The dust jackets are all rubbed and chipped at the head of the spines, with a little loss to the top of the spine of Volume V. Light rubs to other edges and corners. Each of the dust jackets is neatly price clipped to the front flap. Small bookseller's sticker for Henry Sotheran's at the bottom edge of the front pastedowns. The dust jacket for Volume V has some minor marks to the back cover and a very pale stain to the spine. pp. xiv, 429; xiii, 416; xii, 568; xi, 521; xiii, 333; vi, 476. 19.1cm tall. An attractive matching set of this desirable vintage edition. The dust jackets are supplied by us in a loose protective clear archival film sleeve. This does not adhere to the book or jacket in any way and it protects the jacket against wear. (Photographed without the film sleeves, to minimise reflection). A HEAVY set - a postage surcharge will apply to delivery destinations outside the UK mainland as this set costs more to send than our standard postage rate will cover. Small surcharge may apply to UK highlands and islands and N. Ireland; larger surcharge for overseas destinations. NO additional charges for sending within the UK mainland.
