n.d. Publication date not stated but. c.1851-1860. Full calf. Gilt ruled boards, tooled spine and borders. Five raised bands.The boards have some scuffs and scratches showing. However, still an attractive fine binding. Brown morocco spine label. Joints lightly rubbed, not cracked. Good solid firm binding. Hinges sound. Marbled endpapers. Full gilt, all 3 sides - a little rubbed and dulled. Title continues: [to which is added] ...'The Golden Grove; A Choice Manual of What is to be Believed, Practised, and Desired or Prayed For; by Jeremy Taylor. Meditations Upon The Lord's Prayer; by Sir Matthew Hale. And, A Sermon on the Death of Christ; by the Rev. Hugh Blair.' With 52 steel engraved plates, including frontis. and title page, many with the decorative borders typical of Tallis & Co in this period. Engravers include J. Rogers, H. Wallis, H. Lemon & others. Although many are clean, some have marks (foxing, or other reading or thumbing wear) and a few have marginal tears. pp. xii, i-iv, 5-787. 28cm x 22.5cm.
