Hardback. Blue cloth with gilt decoration. Publication date not stated but is 1904. Inscribed by the author at the top edge of the front endpaper. The inscription reads: Pamela, with the Author's love - [signed] EFB 10/9/4. The boards are bowed / bent and are rubbed at the spine and corners, with a short snag in the cloth at the spine, approx. 3cm from the base of the spine, fraying to the cloth at the spine ends and a short split of approx. 1cm in the cloth at the top of the spine / joint with front board and another at the bottom of the spine / joint with rear board. Some pale splash marks to the boards, which are also faded at the spine and edges. The binding is shaken in a few places but holds. Some bubbles to the pastedowns. Illustrated throughout with black and white line drawings by Dorothy Furniss, daughter of Harry Furniss; two of the illustrations have been coloured with watercolour paint (quite neatly though one has a smudge). A few minor grubby handling marks to pages. Overall an acceptable reading or reference copy of this scarce children's mermaid story. pp. 142.
