Hardback, lack dust jacket. Publisher's original brown cloth. 2nd impression, of 1938. Two asterisks / stars printed on the half-title page. There are some marks to the boards, rubs to all corners exposing board underneath, bruising to the spine ends and corners, and the cloth is a little frayed at the spine ends / front, or upper, joint. The binding is firm and almost square; leans forwards slightly. Top edge tinted brown. A period presentation prize bookplate on the front pastedown, dated 1938. Some foxing to the outer closed textblock page edges, with occasional spots to pages. Small grubby brown marks to a few pages. The binding is firm and inner hinges are good. pp. 253, 256; 256.
