Publisher London Hodder and Stoughton Limited 1943

Inventory No. 105976

Hardback, with dust jacket. A first edition copy in what appears to be a later state dust jacket. Original light blue boards. There are some light marks and scratches to the boards, particularly to the rear board. Small bump to the bottom of the front board. Quite a significant forwards lean to the spine. A little foxing to the outer closed textblock page edges. Previous owner's signature in ink on the half title page. Produced in conformity with the wartime authorised economy standards. Pages are slightly age-toned overall but otherwise clean; not browned. The binding is firm. pp. 224. The dust jacket has some marks - a generally slightly grubby appearance. There are rubs, chips and nicks to the edges, with a couple of longer tears, one to the front flap edge of the front cover, with resulting creases. Printed price of 7/6 with publisher's sticker of 8/6 over the top. Lists of Biggles and Gimlet titles on the rear dust jacket flap and 'A letter to everyone who reads this book' on the back cover of dust jacket. Pale brown stain to the dust jacket at the base of the spine. I believe the dust jacket is from a 1950 or 1951 printing. The dust jacket is supplied by us in a loose protective clear archival film sleeve. This does not adhere to the book or jacket in any way and protects the jacket against wear.
