Hardback, with dust jacket. First edition. Original blue boards with dark blue / black titles. The boards are patchily faded, have a few small marks and are generally discoloured, with some small speckles at the edges. The binding is nice and firm. No previous owner's names or inscriptions. The pages are generally age-toned / tanned but not heavily browned. Some foxing to the outer closed textblock page edges and lightly to the endpapers, pastedowns and half-title page. Black and white frontispiece illustration and further black and white full page illustrations in the text. pp. 189. List of titles on the reverse of the half-title page lists 10 Biggles titles, 5 Worrals, 6 Gimlet and Comrades in Arms. The dust jacket is rubbed, chipped and torn at the edges, with a longer tear (approx. 2 inches) to the bottom edge of the front cover. The white parts of the dust jacket are all discoloured to grey and there is significant creasing to the back cover. A previous owner has repaired some of the short edge tears to the underside with clear tape. The front dust jacket flap has a printed price of 6/- net. Biggles and Gimlet titles are listed on the rear dust jacket flap and the back cover of the dust jacket has 'A letter to everyone who reads this book'. The dust jacket is supplied by us in a loose protective clear archival film sleeve. This does not adhere to the book or jacket in any way and protects the jacket against wear.
