Blue cloth; very faded boards. Bottom corners bumped, slightly affecting the bottom corner of the textblock. A few light marks to the boards. Not an attractive copy from the outside. Inside, there's a slight grubby mark in the margin of p. 40-41; otherwise VG. A slight abrasion mark on the f.e.p, a few very light foxing spots to prelims. No previous owner's names or inscriptions. 141pp. Colour plates all VG.Denys Watkins-Pitchford: Born Lamport, Northants, 1905. He wrote and illustrated a number of books, including Carnegie Medal winner, The Little Grey Men, and numerous natural history and country sports titles as well. Particularly well-known for his scraperboard illustrations, although he also produced a number of pen and ink drawings for his books and books by other authors. Died 1990.
