Two volumes in Routledge's Pocket Library series, published in monthly volumes. A Christmas Carol does not have the publication date but I believe was brought out in 1885. It was the 4th book to be published in this series. Dickens's Chimes was the 15th title published in this series and does have the publication date of 1886 on the title page. Small, collectable, pocket-sized books. 13.7 x 9.5cm. 1. Christmas Carol has the f.e.p. missing, has a slightly shaken textblock and a loose plate (facing p. 124). The inner hinges are good. Some foxing. Rubs to the board edges and chips and fraying to the cloth at the head of the spine. pp. 254, plates. 2. The Chimes, with its lovely holly berry patterned paper sides, is in good, firm condition. Discolouration / staining to the red cloth spine. pp. 256, plates. Neither volume has names or inscriptions. Both volumes have some foxing, particularly to endpapers and pastedowns. Text pages in The Chimes are quite clean and bright throughout. 309148
