L'Acropole d'Athenes. Le Parthenon. 2 large portfolios - Premiere Serie et Deuxieme Serie Fougeres, Gustave Editions Albert Morance [c. 1930] 1930 Hardcover Good Book Elephant Folio - over 15 - 23" tall 136 plates in 2 folios. 136 planches en 2 albums. With introductory text of 16 pages. Plates are dated 1913 ; copyright is 1910 but there are references in the text dated as late as 1924, leading me to believe this is likely to be the 1930 edition, or thereabouts. Plates are mostly black and white photographic. Plate no. 74 is diagrammatic and has colour. There are a few other diagrams. A number of plates across both folios have light biopredation to the very edges of the plates; a few plates in the second folio have more heavy insect damage to the edges of the plates and Plate 135 is significantly affected. Plates in the first folio are mostly clean; just a couple of light foxing spots. Plates in the second folio have more signs of foxing and grey-ish handling marks. Still, overall quite good and mostly free from any creasing. The folio albums themselves are heavily worn: the first folio is completely split down one length of the red cloth spine; folio two just about holds at the spine but has significant wear and splits. Both folios have rubs and marks to the boards. Both have their original ties - tied to the top edge and to the foredge. A fairy good full working set of these plates. Folios are large, 52 x 37cm. This set is VERY LARGE AND HEAVY - a significant surcharge will apply to international orders as this set will cost a great deal more to send than our standard rate will cover. Shipping to some destinations may not be available - please enquire before ordering. NO additional charges for sending within the UK mainland. UK highlands, islands and N. Ireland may incur an additional charge. A discount on postage is available for collection from our North Oxfordshire shop premises. 307595
