A later c. 1970s printing of a Ladybird first published in 1954. Matt pictorial boards. There is quite a heavy bump to the top edge of the back cover and there is an abrasion and surface tear to the rear endpaper (just the surface of the paper, not torn through the page) at the edge, where the edge of the page had stuck to the rear pastedown, probably when the book was bound and the binding glue was still wet. It is otherwise in nice clean condition throughout, hence I have described it overall as Very Good condition. Printed ISBN and price of 50p on the back cover. The binding is firm except for the frontispiece illustration which is loosening. Inner hinges are firm. Previous owner's name, place and date on the front pastedown (1902). Pencilled prices / sum written on the rear pastedown. All plates are browned / heavily foxed. Grubby marks on p. 416; text pages are otherwise quite clean. pp. 624, 40 plates including frontispiece and engraved title page. 22 x 15cm. Contains, amongst others, the following first edition points: 2 line errata bound in after list of plates; Cuttle's left arm is a hook on engraved title page and on plate facing p. 238; p. 14 'aint' lacks the apostrophe; p. 26 line 11 has 'fidgetty'; p. 284 'Delight' instead of 'Joy'; has dark plate at p. 547; p. 324 last line 'Capatin' not corrected; p. 582 last line no full stop.
