46 The Secret Seven Adventure
Blyton, Enid ; illustrated by George Brook Brockhampton Press Leicester 1963 Hardcover Good Good Book 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall Brook, George
Hardback with dust jacket. 10th impression; this title was first published in 1950. Original blue boards. The boards are very slightly faded at the edges. The binding is firm. Previous owner's name written in pencil on the half-title page. Front endpaper may have been removed as the book opens onto the half-title page, but if so, it has been very neatly done with no discernible damage. It is possible this may be normal for this edition but I haven't another copy of exactly the same impression to verify. Significant foxing to the outer closed textblock page edges and to the last few pages. Pages are otherwise clean. pp. 127. The dust jacket has a large pale brown stain to the edge of the front cover and front dust jacket flap. Otherwise just lightly rubbed at the edges, with small chips to the spine ends. Front flap not price clipped. The dust jacket is supplied by us in a loose protective clear archival film sleeve. This does not adhere to the book or jacket in any way and protects the jacket against wear. (Book photographed without the protective cover, to avoid reflections). 107136

48 Noddy Goes to Toyland (Noddy Book 1)
Blyton, Enid ; pictures by Beek [Harmsen van der Beek] Sampson Low, Marston & Co Ltd 25 Gilbert Street, London 1949 Hardcover Good Good Book 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall
Here is the first book about Noddy, the little wooden man with the nodding head - how the children will love him! He belongs to Enid Blyton and she tells the tale of his adventures - how he makes friends with Big-Ears the Brownie, and goes off to Toyland to build his own little house of toy bricks - what fun he has there! The publication date is not stated but this is a very early edition, from the same year as the first printing (1949) and we believe this copy to be a second impression. The boards are rubbed and bruised at the spine ends and corners but the binding is nice and sturdy - no splits to the boards and the inner hinges are both good, no cracks. Rounded spine. The This Book Belongs To box has not been filled in. There is some print offsetting to a number of pages - shadow printing marks to the pages, including endpapers. No previous owner's names or inscriptions. There are some foxing spots to the outer closed textblock page edges and a few light handling marks to page edges (nothing serious). Two pages have near invisible archival repairs to short tears in the bottom margin edges. The dust jacket is worn and torn at the edges, with rubs, creases and some loss at the spine ends and edges. Front dust jacket flap not price clipped - 3s. 6d. net. DJ a little faded at the spine. The dust jacket flaps do not list any other titles but are more colourful than the first edition dust jacket flaps. The rear dust jacket flap mentions the Toby Twirl Tales but does not list them. Please see photos for dust jacket detail and condition. 61pp. The dust jacket is supplied by us in a loose protective clear archival film sleeve. This does not adhere to the book or jacket in any way and it protects the jacket against wear. 306878

Bowood, Richard ; with illustrations by Robert Ayton Wills & Hepworth Ltd Loughborough 1964 First Edition Hardcover Good Very Good Book 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall
First edition. Original matt buff boards with blue line illustration to the front board. The boards have a strange brittle dried glue-type strip to the spine and spine edges of both boards. I'm not sure why as the boards are in good condition and I cannot see what this glued strip would have been for (see photos). The boards are otherwise clean. The binding is firm and the pages clean and bright but there is a previous owner's name written at the top edge of the front endpaper. 51pp. The dust jacket is very good - light rubs to the spine ends and corners. Price of 2/6 on the front flap of the dust jacket. List of titles in the series on the rear flap of the dust jacket, of which this is the last one. Tally of over 100 available Ladybird titles mentioned on the rear dust jacket flap. The dust jacket is supplied by us in a loose protective clear archival film sleeve. This does not adhere to the book or jacket in any way and protects the jacket against wear. 105113
