Corners rubbed, exposing board at corners and there are some scuffs to the rear board of v. II. Errors in paging: v. I, 367-368 repeated in numbering (text is different, just numbering repeated); v. Each volume has engraved frontispiece, title pages with vignette engravings, plus a further 78 copper-engraved plates across the two volumes depicting infantry battle dress, weaponry, arms and armour: 14 plates in v. I and 66 in v. II. The engraving is excellent quality. The frontis. of v. II has some sympathetic restoration - two long heavy creases have been reinforced - one on the underside and one in the margin on both sides - with what appears to be a near invisible acid-free tissue repair. 29 x 23cm. These are very good volumes, sympathetically restored, handsome and strong bindings; will add to any collection.
