Method of classifying words in family groups has been employed but digraphs include more difficult consonant blends, silent letters such as k and gh and exceptions such as 'ow' in bowl. The purpose of the book is to increase the child's knowledge of phonic structures... It is intended for average children with a reading age of approx. 7-8 but the wide interest level of the text makes it equally suitable for slow learners in remedial classes. 32pp. 305227

No previous owner's names or inscriptions. There is a small, light brown, stain to the foredge textblock edge (textblock edge only; pages are clean). The boards are slightly bruised at the spine ends and corners and are very slightly discoloured at the edges. There is a very small brown mark to the top edge of the front board. The pages are slightly age-toned but otherwise clean. A few pages have flattened creases to the top corners, where the corner has previously been turned over as a page marker. Closed page textblock edges have a few light, minor marks. Previous owner's name and address, with some smudging to the ink, in untidy writing on the front endpaper. The dust jacket is faded at the spine and rubbed at the edges, with some creasing, tiny chips and small nicks to the edges and a scotch-type-tape repair to a couple of tears of approx. 1cm at the top edge of the front cover - the repairs are to the underside of the jacket.
