The boards have suffered from exposure to damp conditions - visible all over but particularly affected top edges which have rubbed through to the boards in a few places. Quite heavy foxing to the front endpaper. Lighter foxing to outer page edges and rear endpaper. No names or inscriptions but there is a bunny stamp with 'book must be back before' on the title page. Binding sound. 185pp. The dust jacket is worn and torn with some loss to the edges. Not price clipped [8s 6d]. The DJ is now supplied by us in a loose protective clear archival film sleeve (which does not adhere to the book or jacket in any way and prevents any further wear). First published in 1950; this is a c. 1951 reprint. Red cloth spine in very good condition, with light marks from staples showing through. Some slightly grubby light marks to the covers. No creasing to the covers. No previous owner's names or inscriptions. Slightly darkened / thumbed page edges but the pages themselves are in nice, clean condition. Illustrations are red and black and this is the full edition of 124 numbered frames. There is a list of titles on the back cover, with Mary Mouse titles including A Prize for Mary Mouse, and How Do You Do, Mary Mouse; Jimmy titles, the last one being Jimmy and the Little Old Engine; three The Twins stories; two Honk stories; and Master Bunny The Baker's Boy. First published in 1950; this is a much later printing from c.1964 or slightly later. SHORTENED EDITION - the original edition has 124 frames of pictures; this one has 44 frames. Black and red illustrations. Red cloth spine. Some foxing to the front cover and a large biro cross mark on the back cover, from corner to corner. There is a pale stain (water-type mark) to the top corner of all pages in the margin only. No previous owner's names or inscriptions. The first page is crumpled, affecting the bottom quarter of the page, with a short tear in the text. Short nick and small crease to the bottom corner of the next two pages. A flattened crease to the bottom corner of the back cover. Printed price on the back cover of 1/- and printed list of some of the other Mary Mouse titles, including Mary Mouse and the Little Donkey which was the last title to be published in 1964. I believe this Twins title was first published in 1950. This edition is c. 1951. 124 frames of red and black illustrations. Red cloth spine with rusted staples. Covers heavily creased and both the front and back covers have had a crease reinforced to the undersides with clear 'invisible' acid-free tissue repair material. You can barely see these repairs. Some creasing to the pages throughout and a very short tear to the top edge of one page. Pages are otherwise clean; no grubby marks. No names or inscriptions. Price of 1/- printed on the front cover. Two Jimmy titles listed on the back cover, the two other Twins titles and a few Mary Mouse titles. The latest title listed on the back is Hurrah! For Mary Mouse (1951). 105257

Although the stated date is 1952, this isn't a first edition but is a slightly later 1950s printing, with the later style dust jacket. Date is c. 1953-1956. Original pale blue boards with the pictorial light blue dust jacket and three bears playing in the pool. The boards are just slightly bruised and slightly discoloured at the spine ends. Otherwise nice and clean. The boards bow outwards ever so slightly /fractionally from the spine. The binding is firm and the pages are mostly nice and bright and clean. There is a small brown mark to the very top margin edge of pages 30-37. Similar small brown marks (small grubby marks rather than foxing) to the outer closed textblock edges, plus one slightly larger pale stain to the top textblock edge next to the spine (pages themselves unaffected). No previous owner's names or inscriptions. The dust jacket is rubbed and chipped at the edges, with a tear at the top of the spine, a shorter tear to the back cover, with some minor creasing and a small strip of loss to the top edge of the rear dust jacket flap.
