SHORTENED EDITION - the original edition has 124 frames of pictures; this one has 44 frames. Black and red illustrations. Red cloth spine. Some foxing to the front cover and a large biro cross mark on the back cover, from corner to corner. There is a pale stain (water-type mark) to the top corner of all pages in the margin only. No previous owner's names or inscriptions. The first page is crumpled, affecting the bottom quarter of the page, with a short tear in the text. Short nick and small crease to the bottom corner of the next two pages. A flattened crease to the bottom corner of the back cover. Printed price on the back cover of 1/- and printed list of some of the other Mary Mouse titles, including Mary Mouse and the Little Donkey which was the last title to be published in 1964. Date is c. 1953-1956. Original pale blue boards with the pictorial light blue dust jacket and three bears playing in the pool. The boards are just slightly bruised and slightly discoloured at the spine ends. Otherwise nice and clean. The boards bow outwards ever so slightly /fractionally from the spine. The binding is firm and the pages are mostly nice and bright and clean. There is a small brown mark to the very top margin edge of pages 30-37. Similar small brown marks (small grubby marks rather than foxing) to the outer closed textblock edges, plus one slightly larger pale stain to the top textblock edge next to the spine (pages themselves unaffected). The dust jacket is rubbed and chipped at the edges, with a tear at the top of the spine, a shorter tear to the back cover, with some minor creasing and a small strip of loss to the top edge of the rear dust jacket flap.
