Hardback with dust jacket. Original brown cloth. Top edge tinted brown - tinting has faded and the top outer closed textblock edge has noticeable foxing. The binding is firm and inner hinges are very good. Bump to the top corner of the rear board and to the top corner of the textblock, last few pages. There is a very pale stain to the bottom corner of the rear endpaper, to the bottom corner and edges of the rear pastedown, with some grey marks, and very, very pale (barely visible) stain to the bottom edge/corner of the rear board; this is so pale I nearly missed it. Still a nice copy of this Oxford Illustrated edition. The pale blue dust jacket is very good - just very light rubs to a few edges. Front flap not price clipped. The World's Classics series was started by the publisher Grant Richards in 1901 and was taken over by Oxford University Press in 1905. OUP still publish the World's Classics series today, though now in paperback format. Blue cloth boards with gilt decoration to the spine. Lightly rubbed spine ends and slight bruising to the corners. Pages are age-toned and have some quite heavy foxing to the outer closed textblock page edges. Lighter occasional foxing spots to pages. Previous owner's name written lightly in pencil at the top edge of the front endpaper. pp. xi, 604. 15.6cm. 307351
