Hardback, with dust jacket. Red boards. 5/- Cheap Edition; 5th impression, January 1951. First published May 1943. The binding is firm but pages have significantly browned at the edges. No previous owner's names or inscriptions. pp. 328. The yellow Gollancz dust jacket has some marks, discolouration, and some foxing. A couple of short tears to the dust jacket edges. Hardback with dust jacket. Original red boards with gilt titles to the spine. The boards are very slightly faded at the spine ends. Previous owner's signature and date (1948) on the front pastedown. Some light foxing. Pages are significantly browned, particularly at the edges. A small dark stain to the top outer closed textblock page edge. The binding is nice and firm. First Cheap Edition 5/- and second impression; was first published in May 1943 and this second impression is dated January 1948. The yellow Gollancz dust jacket has several tears, including a long one to the spine, and some minor creasing and some small chips / loss to the edges. pp. 328.
