Published at The Office London and Glasgow 1895 Half Leather Very Good Book 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall 
Comprises Punch volumes 108 and 109 bound together in one volume - the full year of 1895. Half tan calf binding. Spine gilt in six compartments, with raised bands. Marbled boards. Some rubs to the edges, light surface rubs and scratches. A bump to the bottom corner of the lower board. Large scratch / scuff to the leather top corner of the upper board. Joints are good. There are stains to the bottom corners of both boards, next to the spine and the first approx. 6 pages and last approx. 6 pages have a pale water-type stain and a little wrinkling to the bottom edge, near the spine. Some light foxing. The binding is sturdy. Inner hinges are very good. Lovely brown marbled endpapers. All edges marbled. Very small binders mark for John Bumpus, Oxford Streeet. All three volumes are bumped at the base of the spine and the Introduction and Translation volume has two little red pen squiggles on a page towards the back of the book. If not for the pen marks I would describe the volumes as Very Good condition. The slipcase is poor, missing one end of the case. Some quite heavy brown foxing spots to the outer closed textblock edges, with some foxing spots to pages. Binding firm. The dust jacket is rubbed and worn, with tears to the joins with the flaps and quite a large pale brown stain which is mostly visible to the underside but which you can just see around the spine area of the front of the cover. It is possible this may be normal for this edition but I haven't another copy of exactly the same impression to verify. First published in 1950; this is a much later printing from c.1964 or slightly later. SHORTENED EDITION - the original edition has 124 frames of pictures; this one has 44 frames. Black and red illustrations. Red cloth spine. Some foxing to the front cover and a large biro cross mark on the back cover, from corner to corner. There is a pale stain (water-type mark) to the top corner of all pages in the margin only. No previous owner's names or inscriptions. The first page is crumpled, affecting the bottom quarter of the page, with a short tear in the text. Short nick and small crease to the bottom corner of the next two pages. A flattened crease to the bottom corner of the back cover. Printed price on the back cover of 1/- and printed list of some of the other Mary Mouse titles, including Mary Mouse and the Little Donkey which was the last title to be published in 1964.
