Small child's rag book / cloth book, in excellent fine condition - never used. There is the slightest wrinkle in the front cover but this doesn't detract. Pinked (serrated) edges. Orange stitching to the spine. Printed in 8 colours. With 8 cloth pages including the covers. Folded advertising leaflet for Dean's Rag Books loosely enclosed. This title includes images from two slightly earlier Dean's titles - no. 263 Wee Friends, illustrated by Vera Bowyer, and no. 274 Jolly Jingles, illustrated by Phyllis Cooper. 6 Happy Birthday Madame Chapeau
Beaty, Andrea ; pictures by David Roberts Abrams New York 2014 1419712195 / 9781419712197 First Edition Hardcover New New Book 4to - over 9¾ - 12" tall
New hardback. First impression. In excellent, fine condition. UK RRP £10.99. Slim children's picture book. Unpaginated. In a three-story house with a shop down below, lived the world's finest hat maker, Madame Chapeau. Like the Lady herself, all her hats were refined. Brilliantly singular. One of a kind. So begins Andrea Beaty's new rhyming picture book about a hat maker adored by her friends and neighbours. On her birthday, Madame Chapeau wears the perfect bonnet made by her late husband. The dust jacket is supplied by us in a loose protective clear archival film sleeve. This does not adhere to the book or jacket in any way and it protects the jacket against wear. But on the way to her birthday dinner, a crow snatches her hat and flies away with it, leaving Mme. Chapeau sans bonnet. As she chases the crow, everyone around her begins to follow her, offering their own hats for her to wear. None of them are quite right for Madame Chapeau, though, until one special little girl offers her a hat "knitted with love and [her] best birthday wish." What appears "rather odd" to Mme Chapeau at first is actually the perfect gift for her. A delightful story about love, community and friendship, with some fancy hats and a birthday thrown in for good measure. 306252

8 Noddy Goes to Toyland (Noddy Book 1)
Blyton, Enid ; pictures by Beek [Harmsen van der Beek] Sampson Low, Marston & Co Ltd 25 Gilbert Street, London 1949 Hardcover Good Good Book 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall
Here is the first book about Noddy, the little wooden man with the nodding head - how the children will love him! He belongs to Enid Blyton and she tells the tale of his adventures - how he makes friends with Big-Ears the Brownie, and goes off to Toyland to build his own little house of toy bricks - what fun he has there! The publication date is not stated but this is a very early edition, from the same year as the first printing (1949) and we believe this copy to be a second impression. The boards are rubbed and bruised at the spine ends and corners but the binding is nice and sturdy - no splits to the boards and the inner hinges are both good, no cracks. Rounded spine. The This Book Belongs To box has not been filled in. There is some print offsetting to a number of pages - shadow printing marks to the pages, including endpapers. No previous owner's names or inscriptions. There are some foxing spots to the outer closed textblock page edges and a few light handling marks to page edges (nothing serious). Two pages have near invisible archival repairs to short tears in the bottom margin edges. The dust jacket is worn and torn at the edges, with rubs, creases and some loss at the spine ends and edges. Front dust jacket flap not price clipped - 3s. 6d. net. DJ a little faded at the spine. The dust jacket flaps do not list any other titles but are more colourful than the first edition dust jacket flaps. The rear dust jacket flap mentions the Toby Twirl Tales but does not list them. Please see photos for dust jacket detail and condition. 61pp. The dust jacket is supplied by us in a loose protective clear archival film sleeve. This does not adhere to the book or jacket in any way and it protects the jacket against wear. 306878
