1 Breakfast At Tiffany's; Brideshead Revisited; The Picture of Dorian Gray; A Room with a View; The Great Gatsby; The Big Sleep [Boxed Penguin Classics Limited Designer Editions by Bill Amberg - the Complete Set of Six]
Capote, Truman; Waugh, Evelyn; Wilde, Oscar; Forster, E. M.; Fitzgerald, F. Scott; Chandler, Raymond Penguin Classics London 2008 0141189533 / 9780141189536 Special Edition Soft Leather Bound Fine Slipcase Fine Book 8vo - over 7 - 9" tall
First edition thus, first impressions of these luxury limited edition Penguin Classics novels. The full set of six luxury bindings designed for Penguin by Bill Amberg. 1,000 copies of each were produced. The ISBN number given is for Breakfast at Tiffany's; the other volumes have separate ISBN numbers. Soft bound in vegetable tanned buffalo calf, with matching hand-tied leather tag-style bookmark bearing the name and author of the book. The skins used in the binding of these Bill Amberg editions were taken from 'fallen animals' - i.e. they died from natural causes - and were sourced from India's premium calf tannery. Made using traditional ecological methods, where the water used is recycled after filtering through reed beds. This creates leather that improves with every use, the grain and sheen brightening continually over time. Presented wrapped in Penguin / Bill Amberg tissue in a sturdy blond card box. Paper wrap-around titles slip over the box. A full set of these superb collector's editions. The only visible flaw is in the form of some small indentations to the slipcase wraparound of The Big Sleep. All volumes are still shrinkwrapped and as new. All bear the original Penguin barcodes and price labels on the shrinkwrap. The presentation boxes are in excellent FINE condition. For sale as a set only. Book dimensions are 21.5cm x 14cm [boxes 23.4 cm x 16.3cm]. DELIVERY: No extra charges for sending within the UK MAINLAND. An extra fee may be necessary for UK islands and highlands, including N. Ireland. INTERNATIONAL DELIVERY may not available for this set due to size and weight - please contact us BEFORE ORDERING. There will be significant extra postage charges for international orders. 308601

6 Mr. Tittlewit's Zoo
Knight, M. Forster Country Life Limited Covent Garden, London 1942 First Edition Hardcover Very Good Good Book 8vo - over 7 - 9" tall
Hardback with dust jacket. First edition. War economy standard book production. Original green boards with red titles. The boards are slightly faded at the edges, with a particularly faded patch, approx. one inch in size at the head of the spine (corresponds with a tear to the dust jacket). The binding is nice and firm and pages are clean. No previous owner's names or inscriptions. There is some wrinkling to the frontispiece colour illustration. The paper quality of the frontis. illustration is quite thin which is probably the cause of the wrinkling. No other sign of wrinkling or marks to other pages. pp. 126. When Sandypaws the Rabbit was kidnapped by Bandit Rat, the folk of Fern Wood were in an uproar. They had suffered themselves from the wicked Rat, and they were sorry for poor Mrs Sandypaws, left to fend for eight little rabbits. The kind-hearted mice, Mr Tittlewit and Mr. Pippington, made a plan to foil the Rat.' And so, an Insect Zoo was created... The dust jacket is complete, has a tear at the head of the spine, a few other short tears to edges and few small and light marks overall. Front flap not price clipped. The dust jacket is supplied by us in a loose protective clear archival film sleeve. This does not adhere to the book or jacket in any way and protects the jacket against wear. 105931
