Early one morning a mouse met a wolf and was quickly gobbled up...When a woeful mouse is swallowed up by a wolf, he quickly learns he is not alone: a duck has already set up digs and, boy, has that duck got it figured out! Turns out it's pretty nice inside the belly of the beast - there's delicious food, elegant table settings and, best of all, dancing. And there's something more: no more fear of being eaten by a wolf! Life's not so bad, considering the alternatives. That is, until a hunter shows up. Slim unpaginated children's picture book. 11 Animals and their Little Ones (Dean's Rag Book No. 62 - Fluffidown)
Berkeley, Stanley (illustrated by) Dean's Rag Book Co. Ltd [c. 1916] 1916 Soft cover Good Book 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall Berkeley, Stanley
A Dean's Rag book. Fluffidown - this should be a soft brushed cotton but this particular book is an ordinary Dean's rag cloth book; not as thick and fluffy as other Fluffidown books I have seen. Publication date not stated but estimated to be c. 1916. It was first published in 1907 and this edition was first published in 1914/15 and was in print until 1919. 12 pages including the covers. A washable cloth book, safe for babies. Pinked edges and zig zag sewn binding. Edges are frayed. This book has been well-loved and washed so the covers and pages have all faded. The book is washed and clean. A few very small pale brown marks. One page has been lovingly darned at the bottom corner (which I find charmingly endearing!) - it is the page showing Indian Ducks and Guinea-Pigs on the reverse. 205 x 165mm. 106895

14 Noddy Goes to Toyland (Noddy Book 1)
Blyton, Enid ; pictures by Beek [Harmsen van der Beek] Sampson Low, Marston & Co Ltd 25 Gilbert Street, London 1949 Hardcover Good Good Book 12mo - over 6¾ - 7¾" tall
Here is the first book about Noddy, the little wooden man with the nodding head - how the children will love him! He belongs to Enid Blyton and she tells the tale of his adventures - how he makes friends with Big-Ears the Brownie, and goes off to Toyland to build his own little house of toy bricks - what fun he has there! The publication date is not stated but this is a very early edition, from the same year as the first printing (1949) and we believe this copy to be a second impression. The boards are rubbed and bruised at the spine ends and corners but the binding is nice and sturdy - no splits to the boards and the inner hinges are both good, no cracks. Rounded spine. The This Book Belongs To box has not been filled in. There is some print offsetting to a number of pages - shadow printing marks to the pages, including endpapers. No previous owner's names or inscriptions. There are some foxing spots to the outer closed textblock page edges and a few light handling marks to page edges (nothing serious). Two pages have near invisible archival repairs to short tears in the bottom margin edges. The dust jacket is worn and torn at the edges, with rubs, creases and some loss at the spine ends and edges. Front dust jacket flap not price clipped - 3s. 6d. net. DJ a little faded at the spine. The dust jacket flaps do not list any other titles but are more colourful than the first edition dust jacket flaps. The rear dust jacket flap mentions the Toby Twirl Tales but does not list them. Please see photos for dust jacket detail and condition. 61pp. The dust jacket is supplied by us in a loose protective clear archival film sleeve. This does not adhere to the book or jacket in any way and it protects the jacket against wear. 306878
