30 A Compleat History of The Holy Bible, contained in the Old and New Testament, Volume I [vol. I only, incomplete]
Clarke, Laurence Printed for the Author [c. 1737] 1737 Leather Bound Poor Book 8vo - over 7 - 9" tall
This is a POOR condition copy, offered for sale for historic interest / as a textual reference copy. It lacks all plates / illustrations. This copy also lacks preliminary pages, including the title page, and lacks the first few pages of the Preface, beginning with page vii of the Preface to the Old Testament. Dated to the 1737 edition from the pagination (which differs from other editions). pp. vii-xii (preface); 13-616; + index (46 pages, complete). There are a few ink marginal notes. One leaf is loose (pp. 51-54). Contemporary binding is okay - heavily rubbed but boards are attached; half of front pastedown torn away, exposing board underneath and front inner hinge very weak due to the loss of preliminary pages, exposing sewing and underside of leather; rear endpaper removed; some minor historic worming damage to the gutters (mostly confined to the first part of the textblock and text unaffected); pale brown stains to pages 117-129, to the edges of pages 321-328, 353-367, 577-592. A tear in the middle of page 449/450 (no loss to text). Apart from the first few pages of the Preface the text is complete, making this a potentially useful study / reference copy but please note again, LACKS all plates. 24.5 x 19 x 4.5cm. A HEAVY book - a postage surcharge will apply to delivery destinations outside the UK as this book costs more to send than our standard postage rate will cover.
