Published at The Office 85 Fleet Street, London 1893 Half Leather Very Good Book 4to - over 9 - 12" tall 
Comprises Punch volumes 104 and 105 bound together in one volume - the full year of 1893. Half tan calf binding. Spines gilt in six compartments, with raised bands. Marbled boards. Some rubs to the edges, light rubs, a scratch to the surface leather of the top corner of the upper board. All four corners are lightly bumped; the top two corners are rubbed, exposing board at the corner tips. The joints are good and sturdy but there are superficial surface cracks to the upper joint, at the head and tail. Both hinges are very good. Lovely brown marbled endpapers. Very small binders mark for John Bumpus, Oxford Street. No previous owner's names, inscriptions or other marks. Pages are in lovely, bright and clean, condition. A very little foxing to the top margin of the first c. 20 pages or so. A handsome copy. pp. iv, [+33 - The Christmas number of Punch], 312 [Jan 7 - July 1]; iv, 312 [July 8 - Dec 30]. A very nice copy of this scarce book, which was privately printed 'for friends in printing & publishing' by the university printer, Christmas 1949. The print run was limited to 250 copies. Green cloth spine with marbled boards. The boards are very slightly rubbed to the extremeties and there is a small patch of discoloration / abrasion to the front board, but this is quite hard to see. A few very light foxing spots to the endpapers, but the pages are very clean and free from names or annotation. The original folded facsimile reproduction of the Baskerville types is still in its pocket on the rear pastedown and is in fine condition. 37pp. 032804
