1 Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine, Vol. CXLI January to June 1887
William Blackwood & Sons Edinburgh and London 1887 Half Leather Very Good No Jacket Book 8vo - over 7 - 9" tall
Handsomely bound in half brown leather with gilt tooling to the spine, 5 raised bands, red title panel and black volume spine label. Some rubs to edges and corners. Marbled boards, endpapers and all edges. The binding is nice and firm. In very good condition. Joints and hinges all very good. No previous owner's names or inscriptions. Blackwood's Edinburgh Magazine was a long running monthly literary journal. It began in April 1817 and, when it moved HQ to London in 1905, it became simply Blackwood's Magazine. It ceased publication in 1980. This volume contains the first printing of part of the novel, Sarracinesa, by Francis Marion Crawford, probably the best known work of this prolific nineteenth-century author. pp. 1-876. HEAVY book - a postage surcharge will apply to orders with a delivery address outside the UK mainland, as this book costs more to send than our standard postage rate will cover. NO extra charges for delivery within the UK mainland; small charge likely for highlands, islands and N. Ireland. 105246

Armitage, Simon Faber & Faber London 2015 0571298354 / 9780571298358 First Edition Hardcover New New Book 8vo - over 7 - 9" tall Signed by Author(s)
New hardback, in excellent FINE condition. First printing. SIGNED by the author on the title page (flat signed, no inscription or other marks). Not content with walking the Pennine Way as a modern day troubadour, an experience recounted in his bestseller and prize-wining Walking Home, the restless poet has followed up that journey with a walk of the same distance but through the very opposite terrain and direction far from home. In Walking Away Simon Armitage swaps the moorland uplands of the north for the coastal fringes of Britain's south west, once again giving readings every night, but this time through Somerset, Devon and Cornwall, taking poetry into distant communities and tourist hot-spots, busking his way from start to finish. From the surreal pleasure dome of Minehead Butlins to a smoke-filled roundhouse on the Penwith Peninsula then out to the Isles of Scilly and beyond, Armitage tackles this personal Odyssey with all the poetic reflection and personal wit we've come to expect of one of Britain's best loved and most popular writers. 276pp. The dust jacket is supplied by us in a loose protective clear archival film sleeve. This does not adhere to the book or jacket in any way and it protects the jacket against wear. 305020
