Two small marks to the front board. Gilt titles. Hand-numbered limited edition. This copy is no. 415 of 1000 copies. Light green marbled endpapers. Inner hinges have been professionally and neatly strengthened (not by ourselves) with green cloth. The hinges have had extra strengthening with a white cloth tape (again, undertaken by a previous owner), at the Preface and at the Photogravures contents page. As it is white it blends with the pages and is reasonably unobtrusive. The binding is otherwise quite firm and sound. There are a couple of short tears in the edges of the contents pages. pp. xiii, 593. 39cm. Profusely illustrated, including numerous photogravures with tissue guards. Plates are mostly very clean. Occasional foxing spot to prelims and to tissue guards, with some foxing to a few plates. Top edge gilt. DELIVERY: No extra charges for sending within the UK MAINLAND. Faults need to be noted but this copy is better than it sounds. Joints are strong. Spine in 5 compartments with imitation bands. Original blue marbled endpapers. All edges marbled though dulled. Some foxing throughout. Some stains to the edges of a few plates, particularly the ones towards the front and back of the book. Surface cracks to inner hinges but binding firm. No names or inscriptions. pp. xvi, 1016.
