Edited by Henry Reeve. Gilt titles to spine, gilt crest to front board. Spines of all volumes are faded with wear to the head and foot. Corners bumped. All volumes have a small number to the reverse of the front endpaper and a little scattered foxing, and volume one has additionally a name to the half-title page and to the reverse of the frontispiece. All volumes are otherwise in near to very good condition except for volume one which has cracked hinges meaning that the binding is a little loose in places. The boards of volume four are marked. Bound volume of the Duke de Cirella's illustrated monthly journal, Cartons Mondains, featuring 38 colour cartoons (lithographs). Begins with issue 15 Decembre 1906 - 1er Janvier 1907. 13 full issues with the last one being 15 Dec 1907 - 1er Jan 1908 plus there are 8 plates at the back labelled Fevrier 1908 but there does not seem to be a full issue for Fevrier 1908. Two text pages in issue 15 Mai - 1er Juin have a torn strip to the foredge (margin only affected). Plates 99 and the first one numbered issue 100 (there are a few) have some marks / abrasions (possibly from binding glue). Overall, remarkably clean. Free from foxing. The boards measure 43.5 x 33cm ; plates therefore just slightly smaller. Bound in olive green cloth, faded at the spine and edges, with some light marks and rubs to the surface of the boards and some fraying to the cloth at the spine ends and corners. The binding is firm and inner hinges are very good. No previous owner's names or inscriptions. There are brown stains to the rear endpaper and pastedown. A LARGE AND HEAVY volume - a significant surcharge will apply to international orders as this volume will cost a great deal more to send than our standard rate will cover.
