Comprises a single Punch volume, no. 158 for the first half of the year 1920. Original burgundy red cloth binding with gilt stamped Mr Punch motif and black floral scroll pattern on upper board. Blind stamped floral scroll pattern to lower board and gilt caricatures and titles to spine. A previous owner's name and address written on the front endpaper. Creasing to the front endpaper and half title page. The binding is nice and firm; hinges good. Cloth faded at the spine, with light marks to the spine and rubbed cloth at the spine ends. Evelyn Ward Everett-Green (17 November 1856, London - 23 April 1932, Funchal) was an English novelist who started her writing career with improving and pious stories for children, and later wrote historical fiction for older girls, and then adult romantic fiction. A very few light foxing spots to textblock edge and endpapers. 95pp. Thick paper. There are a few small marks to the dust jacket, which has an overall 'greyed' appearance to the 'white' sections. There are rubs and small nicks to the dust jacket edges, a one inch tear to the bottom edge and same to top of spine, a couple of small chips, and a small section missing from the tail of the spine. The reaf flyleaf of the DJ is a little creased. Not clipped, the DJ is now protected in a fully removable clear film sleeve. No names or inscriptions. It is possible that it may have had a preliminary page, but if it did have then it's been neatly removed. I cannot be sure as I do not have a comparison copy. Interior binding staples have rusted. No names or inscriptions. 219pp. The author, Marguerite Florence Laura Jarvis, also wrote under other pseudonyms - Oliver Sandys, Helene Barcynska, Marguerite Florence Barclay, Marguerite Evans, and a few others.
