Original decorative cloth binding, dulled at the spine, and with a small mark on the back board. Minor rubs to spine ends and corners. Attractive Victorian binding. Slight partial crack to the front inner hinge. The binding is otherwise sound and firm. Some foxing to endpapers and pastedowns. Pages are mostly free from foxing. The cloth has split at each end of the spine, with some minor loss. The binding still holds firm. There are some pale marks to the boards. Written, or transcribed, around the year 1600, this play shares some intriguing similarities with Shakespeare's Timon of Athens, including a scene resembling the banquet given by Timon to his flatterers. Some scattered foxing. There are oval red ownership stamps (for Falstaff Club, Sheffield) on the title page, pages. 33, 81 and 95. pp. 95. 'No. 50' written in contemporary script on the front pastedown and f.e.p. 23cm. 302028
