All six volumes are in good condition. All lack dust jackets and are quite heavily rubbed at the board edges, corners and cloth spine ends. Bound in quarter black cloth, with printed paper sides. They would have had dust jackets when published and may have been sold as a boxed set (there was a boxed set of the 6 Jane Austen titles produced but these are without a box). Sense and Sensibility is a 1st Novel Library edition, of 1948, pp. viii, 374, a small bump to the top corner of about 20 pages; Pride and Prejudice is a 1st Novel Library edition of 1949, pp. viii, 386, has a very small light brown mark to the edge of pages 54-62; Northanger Abbey is a first Novel Library edition of 1948 and has a small previous owner's bookplate on the f.e.p., dated 1949, pp. viii, 236; Persuasion is a reprint of 1947, first published in the Novel Library edition in the same year, pp. vi, 254, some pale marks to the outer closed textblock page edges; Emma is a 1st Novel Library edition of 1947, pp. ix, 496, some pale brown stains to the top outer closed textblock page edge and the gilt titling on the spine has dulled; Mansfield Park is a 1st Novel Library edition of 1949, pp. viii, 479, flattened crease to the top corner of several pages. The only volume with previous owner's details is Northanger Abbey - the others are free from names or inscriptions. The bindings are all firm and of a uniform size, 17.6cm. A HEAVY SET - a postage surcharge will apply to delivery destinations outside the UK mainland as this set costs more to send than our standard postage rate will cover. Small surcharge may apply to UK highlands and islands and N. Ireland; larger surcharge for overseas destinations. NO additional charges for sending within the UK mainland.
