30 English Villages and Hamlets
Pakington, Humphrey ; with a foreword by E. V. Knox and introduction by G. M. Young B. T. Batsford Ltd (London) | Charles Scribner's Sons (New York) 1936 Hardcover Good Fair Book 8vo - over 7 - 9" tall
Second edition, revised. Illustrated from drawings by Sydney R. Jones and from photographs by Will F. Taylor and others. Dust jacket illustration by Brian Cook. Original green cloth boards, with fading to brown at the spine ends, where there has been loss to the dust jacket and fading to the spine in general. The cloth is a little rubbed at the spine ends and corners. The binding is firm and hinges good. Some foxing to the outer closed textblock edges, to endpapers and light occasional foxing to pages throughout. Otherwise clean. No previous owner's names, inscriptions or other marks. pp. xvi, 120, 32. The dust jacket is worn and torn - significant rubs and chips to the edges, the back cover of the dust jacket was almost fully detached at the rear spine joint and has an old sellotape repair to the underside which holds it to the main body of the jacket (not brilliantly done as there is a gap between the two); also an approx. one inch tear to the top cover of the back cover of the jacket, the spine of the jacket is faded and there is significant loss at the head of the spine (affecting title) and more minor loss at the base of the spine and corners. Despite the damage, the colours of the front cover are still quite nice and bright and the jacket presents reasonably well loosely held together in a clear archival-quality film sleeve. This protects the jacket from further wear, it does not adhere to the book or jacket in any way and is removable is preferred. Like most of our stock, we have this book at a lower price in our shop premises if you would like to call in. 306720
