n.d. Date of publication not stated but is c. 1924 [ref. British Lib.]. Both the book and dust jacket are in very good condition. Green cloth with gilt lettering. Some light foxing. The main flaw is significant browning of the pages due to paper quality. Otherwise clean. No names or inscriptions. 359pp. The dust jacket is darkened at the spine and edges, with light edgewear - minor rubs and chips and two short tears to the back cover. The dust jacket is supplied by us in a loose protective clear archival film sleeve. This does not adhere to the book or jacket in any way and protects the jacket against wear. Sir John Lubbock's Hundred Books Series. Bound in half brown textured leather (leather spine and corners) with marbled paper-covered boards and marbled endpapers. Top of pages are gilt-edged. Undated. Leather has some scuffing and wear to the extremeties, and there is a 1.5" split at the hinge between the front board and spine at the head. There is 0.75" square circled piece missing from the marbled paper-covering of the front board in the middle. There is also some general scuffing to the boards. Internally there is a name to the reverse of the front endpaper and again to the reverse of the half-title page. An attractive set. Bound in contemporary full calf. Wear to extremities. Some surface marks to the boards. Cracks to a few joints, though most of the joints are good. All bindings are firm. Red morocco title labels and black volume labels - the volume labels are worn with loss. Volumes 2 and 6 have some old worming damage - please see the photos. The holes are mostly small though they open out in a few places. They mostly affect the lower margin, affecting just small amounts of text. Some slight red marks to the pastedowns of Volume 2. Front endpaper missing from Volume 2. Name on the f.e.p. of Volume 5 and a few notes on a couple of pages. pp. xiv, 462; 504; 507; 438; 507; 269 + index.
