Evelyn Ward Everett-Green (17 November 1856, London - 23 April 1932, Funchal) was an English novelist who started her writing career with improving and pious stories for children, and later wrote historical fiction for older girls, and then adult romantic fiction. She wrote about 350 books: more than 200 under her own name, and others using the pen-names H. F. E., Cecil Adair, E. Ward, or Evelyn Dare. I am not sure if these are the first Folio Society edition of 2005 or the reprint of 2006 as they are still shrinkwrapped and I have left them so, to demonstrate how new and untouched they are. This Folio Society edition was the first complete edition of Hans Andersen's tales to be published and contains 156 tales in all. There are illustrations by renowned artists including Arthur Rackham, Heath Robinson, Edmund Dulac and Quentin Blake, amongst many others. A very HEAVY set - a significant postage surcharge will apply to international orders as this book costs more to send than our standard postage rate will allow. Small ink spot to the bottom outer closed textblock edge. Rubs to the board edges, with some fraying and short nicks to the cloth at the spine ends and corners. Previous owner's signature on the front endpaper. Small mark to the bottom margin of a couple of pages. Some erased pencil marks to the rear pastedown.
