Hardback without dust jacket. 7th edition. Original brown boards. Lightly rubbed spine ends. Some quite heavy foxing to the outer closed textblock edges, affecting page margins as well. No previous owner's names or inscriptions. Binding firm. 234pp. 105599

10th impression. Green cloth boards. There are some light grubby marks to the boards. No dust jacket. The binding is firm and sound. Front pastedown has a previous owner's signature. The half title page has a small stain, a tear to the top edge next to the spine and some creasing. Page 19/20 has a torn bottom corner, loss to the page margin (text not affected). Light handling marks to some page margins. A good copy overall. 380pp. 306499

Hardback with dust jacket. 5th impression (new edition, illustrated from 35 photographs by the author). Dark blue boards. Some very pale little marks to the boards. Some light foxing to the underside of the dust jacket and just a very few spots to the endpapers / pastedowns. Binding firm. Pages clean. No names, inscriptions or other marks. The dust jacket is price clipped and has some minor edgewear - rubs, short nicks and some small chips at the edges. 221pp. The dust jacket is supplied by us in a loose protective clear archival film sleeve. This does not adhere to the book or jacket in any way and protects the jacket against wear. 103839

Hardback with dust jacket. Sixth impression, 1948; first published in June 1943. Original green cloth boards. The boards have faded at the top edges and at the head and tail of the spine. Previous owner's name and date written neatly at the top edge of the reverse of the front endpaper. The binding is nice and firm and pages clean; slightly age-toned. The dust jacket is worn and torn and can only be described as fair condition - loss to the edges, corners and spine ends, with rubs, chips and multiple short tears. Front flap of the dust jacket not price clipped. 303pp. The dust jacket is supplied by us in a loose protective clear archival film sleeve. This does not adhere to the book or jacket in any way and protects the jacket against wear. 105607
