Inventory No. 104593

Original light tan cloth. The boards are marked, with some pale pink stains to the rear board. An approx. one inch split to the cloth at the head of the spine / front joint. There is a slight (very slight) buckle to the textblock and the plates all have pale water marks to the edges (plates only). The pages themselves are otherwise relatively clean, except for some pencil line marks in the margins and some grubby marks to pages 6 and 7 and to page 99. Pages also tanned / darkened. Considering the marks etc. the binding is firm and sound, so a reasonably solid working copy. This copy was from the personal library of SMITH ELY JELLIFFE but does not bear his signature or name. Smith Ely Jelliffe (1866-1945) was an eminent American physician, psychiatrist and early psychoanalyst. From 1902 he owned and edited the Journal of Nervous and Mental Disease and in 1913 he was founder of Psychoanalytic Review. He was regular correspondent of Freud and Jung and was one of the earliest proponents of Freudian theory in the United States. pp. xii, 302 + some nice fold-out maps at the back.
